Mystras – Diros Cave
Total estimated excursion time: 7 hours
138 km from Corinth city
223 km from Athens
If you are a lover of history, museums, nature and Byzantine churches then this is the tour for you.

Our first stop is in beautiful Mystras, where you can visit its Byzantine Castle which is geographically located on the southern side of Peloponnese, close to Sparta Town (duration: 2 hours).
The Castle is actually an old town surrounded by Byzantine walls and with an imposing palace on top of the hill. Most of all this place is famous for its Byzantine churches with the impressive frescoes inside. The most famous churches are Agios Demetrios, where Konstantinos Paleologos, the last Byzantine Emperor was crowned, and Agioi Theodoroi with beautiful frescoes.
This mythical place will amaze you with its natural beauty..

We continue to the final destination, Cave Diros, one of the most beautiful natural wonders. The Cavern is very uncommon because its half filled with water, so most of the tour is by boat.
First you will walk (300 meters) through a corridor into the rock and then you reach a platform in front of the water. The boatman is your tour guide who will coach you though the history of the Cavern. The total duration of the visit is 40-45 minutes, remember that inside the cave is quite chilly so you may want to take an extra layer with you.

Next to Diros Cave there is its Neolithic Museum. We shall stay 2,30 hours to visit both the Cavern and its Museum and have time for a coffee or meal.
